The Democracy Initiative Center and the College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences seeks a Director of Operations for the newly created Equity Center, reporting to the Executive Director.The Democracy Initiative Center for the Redress of Inequity Through Community-Engaged Scholarship (the "Equity Center") is the University of Virginia's newest collaborative multi-disciplinary center, established in August 2019. The Equity Center tangibly redresses racial and socioeconomic inequality in university communities by advancing a transformative approach to universities' fundamental research mission, which will in turn reform institutional values, pedagogy and operations. Specifically, the Equity Center will change the way that University of Virginia (UVA) scholars interact with members of the surrounding community, replacing a model that has been extractive with one that is respectful and collaborative and conducts research that benefits communities. This approach will be a model for institutions of higher education domestically and globally to leverage their anchor positions in local communities to eradicate racial and socioeconomic inequity.The Director of Operations position has four fundamental roles, all of which require exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the highest standards of integrity.-- The first role is to handle fiscal management, the second is to manage designated programs as assigned by the Executive Director for the Equity Center, the third is to administer grants for the Equity Center, and the fourth is to perform statistical analysis and evaluation, and support research for the Equity Center. The Director of Operations will also help to establish and nurture collaborative relationships with academic and community partners and develop processes to strengthen student and staff engagement.Job responsibilities:Provides operational oversight for the Equity Center and working partnerships.Assists the Executive Director in administering the Center's working partnerships through sustainable collaborative relationships that enhance academic and community engagement.Assists the Executive Director in developing mission alignment metrics and information for internal and external audiences.Performs budget, financial management and resource analysis for performance and management of allocations and resources, in accordance with the Equity Center Strategy and Action Plan.--Acts as the designated liaison with the University of Virginia's Office of Sponsored Programs to comply grant management to provide regular reports and ensure integrity and alignment.-- This includes both pre-award (proposals, negotiation, acceptance, establishment of accounts) and post-award phases (compliance and audit).Supervises students, volunteers, and non-faculty members, as assigned.Initiates plans for program evaluation to collect data, analyze results, and report outcomes for funding organizations such as grantors and donors. Prepares reports for internal evaluation, for external funders, and for dissemination in white papers, issue briefs, electronic platforms, and academic journals.In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned by the Executive Director.Required Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree with at least three years of relevant experience.-- Significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Must have a commitment to serve communities by reducing racial and socioeconomic inequity.Experience in budget management skills, and demonstrably sound professional judgment.Ability to develop, articulate and implement organizational vision.Excellent organizational skills, time management, and transparent, high integrity leadership skills.Ability to make sound decisions based on competing and complex information from multiple sources.Ability to work with tact on complex, sensitive and confidential issues.The analytical skills and judgment to interpret data and take the appropriate action in circumstances /situations.Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). --Preferred Qualifications:Education: Master's or terminal degreePreference will be given to candidates with budget and accounting, grant and contract and UVA systems experience.--This is an exempt level, benefited position, and is restricted as it is dependent upon performance and funding.--Anticipated Hiring Range: $60,000 - $70,000 commensurate with education and experience.Preference will be given to applications received by March 9, 2020, though the position is open until filled.TO APPLY:***Please note that all required documents MUST be uploaded in the resume box.******Applications that do not contain all the required documents will not receive full consideration.***PROCESS FOR INTERNAL UVA APPLICANTS: Please apply through your Workday Home page, search "Find Jobs", and search for R0014450".PROCESS FOR EXTERNAL APPLICANTS: Please visit UVA job board, search for requisition #R0014450.Complete an application online and attach: 1.
