Job Description:
The University of Virginia School of Medicine seeks a
Finance/Grants Specialist to support the Pharmacology Department.
The Finance/Grants Specialist is responsible for faculty grants
accounting, budget projections, budget strategy, financial
analysis, purchasing, account reconciliation, and other
fiscal-related responsibilities. They work with faculty, the
department Administrative team, and lab personnel to ensure
accuracy of fiscal management and reporting.The Specialist is
responsible for data entry and reporting within the University's
various financial systems and must demonstrate extensive knowledge
of processing financial transactions through various IT platforms.
They resolve complicated transactional issues, prepare summaries,
reports, charts, and graphs as requested, and are distinguished by
a depth and breadth of experience.Required
Qualifications:Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a
related field and at least two years of relevant experience in
grants and contracts, finance, accounting, and/or direct fiscal
management.Four or more years of grants and contracts, finance,
accounting, and/or direct fiscal management may be considered in
lieu of a degreeAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and
Excel.Demonstrate high organizational skills managing multiple,
competing, and simultaneous priorities effectively.The ability to
interact professionally and respectfully with faculty, staff, and
students and negotiate successful resolutions to various situations
while demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.The ability
to work collaboratively in a team unit as well as possess the
ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Show
thoughtful and appropriate oral and written communication skills
with strong attention to detail.The ability to quickly learn new
skills and adapt to change.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's
degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldProficiency in using
Oracle, UBI, ResearchUVA, Recon@UVA, Effort@, and Workday
systems.Knowledge of university and sponsored programs policies and
procedures.Experience in post-award research administration in
higher education and/or research institution.Some knowledge and/or
experience in pre-award administration and sponsor submission sites
such as ASSIST, Grants.gov, ProposalCentral, and
Fastlane.Preference will be given to applicants with Certified
Research Administrator (CRA) designation.Preference will be given
for those candidates who have experience in Workday
Financials.Experience with UVA's integrated system (Oracle
HR/Financial, UBI reporting, and RECON@UVa), ChromeRiver, Research
UVa, effort certification, and entering labor distributions highly
desired.This position will be primarily in-person the Summer and
Fall 2022 semester and likely transition to hybrid in the Spring
2023 semester if performance expectations are met. A hybrid
schedule would include three days per week on University Grounds
and two days per week from a remote location.Anticipated hiring
range: $45,000 - $58,000. This is an Exempt level, benefited
