The University of Virginia, College and Graduate School of Arts
& Sciences (A&S) Department of Art seeks applicants for an
Intermediate Administrative Coordinator to support general and
academic activities for the Art Department and Studio Art Program.
The Intermediate Administrative Coordinator serves as a liaison
between the Art Department leadership team and our faculty and
students, as well as other University professionals, to
successfully manage the department's financial, academic, and
research related programming. Responsibilities will include but are
not limited to these areas: procurement, accounts payable, travel,
student hiring, visiting artist and fellowship programming, faculty
and student academic support, and gallery scheduling. This position
is the main point of contact for Studio Art Program visitors,
faculty and students, and the alternate contact for the Art History
- Qualified applicants are required to have a high school
diploma, with at least four years of administrative work
- Demonstrated knowledge of general office practices and
- Proficient using MS office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Knowledge of budgets and basic accounting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, a professional
manner, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while
paying attention to detail.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality.
- A Bachelor's Degree or other related education experience.
- Administrative experience in academia
- Working knowledge of Student Information System (SIS), Oracle,
and other UVA systems
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
- A strong desire to learn, and the ability to follow through on
tasks with attention to detail.
Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving
extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally
require steps, lifting boxes, and traveling some distance to attend
meetings and programs.
