Title: Engineer Land Use State Role Title: Architect Engineer I Hiring Range: $67,646 - $109,925 Pay Band: 5 Agency: VA Dept of Transportation Location: Louisa Residency Agency Website: https://virginiadot.org/jobs Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking an entry-level engineer to work alongside the Area Land Use Engineer to assist with the administration of land development projects, permit approvals, and subdivision inspection and acceptance for the counties of Fluvanna, Louisa and Orange within the Commonwealth of Virginia. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with local government officials, developers, consultants, and VDOT staff to assess the soundness of designs and the impacts of land development applications on the state-maintained road network. Will also perform technical reviews of engineering plans to include site plans, subdivision plans, roadway plans, and utility plans. Minimum Qualifications -- - Ability to read and understand construction drawings and plans-- - Knowledge of applying roadway geometric design and other engineering principles-- - Knowledge of applying subdivision street requirements, entrance standards and road design standards-- - Ability to apply VDOT--s guidance and standards to reviews and provide clear and concise comments to the Area Land Use Engineer and other stakeholders-- - Knowledge of applying land use permit policies, construction practices, materials requirements, and street acceptance procedures-- - Detailed oriented with the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences-- - Skill in the use of computers and software applications-- - Valid Driver--s License is required Additional Considerations -- - BS Degree in civil engineering or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience in the application of transportation projects which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the job-- - Background in plan reviews, design and/or traffic engineering helpful but not required-- - EIT or PE License, DCR certification as Plan Reviewer or ability to obtain a plus.-- - Demonstrated experience in land development plan review or experience in the application of engineering principles to highway construction projects is favorable Special Instructions A confirmation receipt when your application and/or resume is submitted successfully will be received after submission.
