Job Description:
About Lynk Lynk is the inventor of satellite direct to device or
D2D technology, and has the world’s only commercial license from
the FCC to operate a commercial D2D system. Today, Lynk allows
mobile network operators' subscribers to send and receive text
messages to and from space via standard unmodified, mobile devices.
Lynk’s service has been tested and proven on all seven continents,
has regulatory approvals in more than 30 countries and is currently
being deployed commercially based on more than 40 MNO commercial
service contracts covering approximately 50 countries. Our
technology will enable all 8 billion people on the planet to stay
connected with the existing standard phone in their pocket.
Everywhere. No matter what. By joining Lynk, you will have the
opportunity to directly touch the lives of billions. Your mission
will be to bring mobile broadband to billions, pull hundreds of
millions out of poverty, and save countless lives. Job Summary Lynk
is developing cellular-based space payloads and seeks a Wireless
Engineer to design and implement feeder link modems for Lynk’s
spacecraft and ground systems. This role involves developing,
implementing, and testing DSP and satellite communication
protocols. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in
wireless communication, signal processing, and software engineering
to drive innovation in next-generation satellite-based networks.
Core Responsibilities Design and implement digital signal
processing (DSP) algorithms and wireless protocols in the PHY and
MAC layers. Deliver performant and robust production code targeted
to software-defined radio (SDR) platforms using single-board
computers and/or FPGAs. Evaluate the performance of algorithms in
simulation (e.g., MATLAB, Python) prior to implementation. Validate
performance on target hardware using RF lab equipment like spectrum
analyzers and channel simulators, as well as networking tools such
as ping and iperf. Develop test automation frameworks and manage
CI/CD pipelines to support unit, integration, and system testing of
modems. Work with cross-functional teams across RF, electronics,
and hardware domains to integrate, benchmark, and debug payload
software and communications systems. Debug production issues in
conjunction with the operations team to rapidly resolve complex
software and hardware anomalies in orbit or on the ground. Create
system performance visualizations to continuously monitor
communication links. Perform link budget analysis for satellite
communication links and evaluate the selection of spacecraft radios
and ground station products. Qualifications A Master’s degree or
higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related
field. Deep understanding of communication theory and signal
processing related algorithms design, such as filter design, clock
recovery, signal detection, channel estimation and equalization,
channel coding. Strong knowledge of some communications and
networking standards, such as DVB-S2/DVB-S2X, and protocols, such
as TCP/IP, UDP, ZeroMQ, Ethernet, etc. Experience with C/C++,
Python, MATLAB for algorithm development, modeling, and simulation.
Strong knowledge of software defined radios - SDRs and their
implementation. Proficiency in working with Linux based systems
Hands-on experience in lab testing & characterization. Experience
using test equipment like signal generators, spectrum analyzers,
etc. Experience with implementing DSP algorithms in HDL, such as
SystemVerilog, VHDL is a plus. Knowledge of the 3GPP standards,
including LTE and 5G PHY, MAC, and RRC specifications is a plus.
