Summary: TypeZero, a Dexcom company located in Charlottesville, VA is looking for a Server side/Full Stack Engineer who understands business needs and knows how to apply tools, processes and systems in a team environment to build software that delivers maximum value to the business. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage and work processes; investigating problem areas; and most importantly - writing beautiful, functional, fast, accurate, scalable, maintainable and well tested code. Follow (and lead) the software agile development lifecycle. Determine operational feasibility by evaluating problem definition, requirements, solution development and proposed solutions. Document and demonstrate solutions by creating artifacts like documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and most of all: accurate, fast, maintainable code. Practice state-of-the-art devops. Support and develop fellow software engineers by mentoring, providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities. Collaborate with cross-functional team to deliver above-and-beyond business results. Grow engineering teams by interviewing, recruiting and hiring. Make informed decisions quickly and take ownership of services and applications at scale. Required Qualifications: 5 years professional software development experience 5 years professional back-end or full-stack development experience Excellent communication and collaboration skills Phenomenal testing principles (and perseverance), incl. perhaps a grounding in basic stats Eagerness for and demonstrated proficiency fulfilling multiple roles on a cross functional team Clojure or other functional programming languages Python Several database types: object stores (redis, dynamodb), relational (postgres) Amazon Web Services (the more the better: Lambda, ECS, Athena, RDS, etc etc etc) Service oriented and/or function-oriented architectures, aka microservices High performance, fault-embracing, scalable (distributed) systems Expert understanding of web APIs, HTTP, and networking concepts JVM-hosted development Git guru Bonus points: Experience with BTLE and protocol APIs & implementations Education Requirements: BS in Computer Science (but equivalent real-world experience is just fine) Travel Required: 0 24% LI-BA1 An Equal Opportunity Employer.
