About this role: This position reports to K12 Domestic Group Travel and is responsible for Special Group Domestic events and contracts. The Group Events Program Manager will serve as a driving force for successful event delivery and works collaboratively within the organization to create, develop and execute strategic programming and growth. The team member strives to maximize event quality and provide a consistently high customer service and satisfaction. The Group Events Program Manager is accountable for the overall delivery of the features of the events while meeting the profitable attainment of organizational goals with a strong emphasis placed on customer satisfaction. Once programs are launched, oversee day-to-day operations, provide leadership support for on-site team members, and handle organizational or safety issues. The Group Events Program Manager is also responsible for obtaining, renewing, organizing, and communicating contract awards across the organization.

What you'll do as a Program Manager:


Align the department objectives with firm business strategy through active participation in strategic planning, production strategy development, forecasting, and resource planning and budgeting
Ensure technology initiatives are implemented consistent with the firm technology strategy
Lead change initiatives by continuously assessing the need for organizational change, championing change initiatives, and removing obstacles impeding constructive organizational change
Build and retain relationships with high-level vendors and negotiate rates
Maintain a system for quality control and methods to improve quality
Drives all pre-event and on-the-ground event planning and implementation to ensure daily operations and positive customer experience
Evaluate employee performance strategies and build talent retention
Initiate long-range planning and development for future events based on qualitative and quantitative evaluation measures.
Supports sales and marketing efforts as needed, including presenting at events
Ensure programs meet or exceed satisfaction/Net Promoter Score goals

Charlottesville, VA - Headquarters

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree is preferred.
  • Three years of proven excellence in account management/sales environment desired
  • Minimum of three years of experience managing complex programs in a cross-functional environment
  • Strong working knowledge of event planning and production
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, decision-making, leadership, problem-solving and people skills
  • Strong negotiation and conflict management abilities
  • Demonstrate situational awareness and the ability to think on your feet and appropriately act
  • Capability to anticipate and take necessary preventive action
  • Previous experience developing and implementing strategy from the ground up. Proven ability to balance the strategic needs of the program with day-to-day tactical activities
  • Experience working in a seasonal business and ideally have worked with youth
  • A natural curiosity and interest in trying new approaches to reach customers and influence the brand
