Job location: Charlottesville, VA Employment Type: Full-time Posted data: 2019-04-19 Req: R0005337 The University of Virginia (UVA) is currently seeking forward-thinking candidates for the position of Director, HR Service - Academic Support. UVA has recently embarked on a journey to transform its Human Resources services by delivering value added processes, and modern systems. The Director will lead a team of specialized human resource professionals and will report directly to the Sr. Director of Service, Academic Division. Through effective engagement of the university's resources, creative problem solving, and exchanging of ideas with university colleagues, this position will transform the way that services are delivered focusing on the intricacies and needs of the Academic division. Responsibilities: Build and inspire a high functioning team that strives to reach University, and individual goals in an environment of mutual respect and understanding. Create and maintain a culture of change and improvement that aspires excellence. Work with the Provost Office and schools to absorb and reduce administrative burden using LEAN principles and continuous improvement. Manage a team of HR professionals in order to achieve the mission of the organization. Establish internal controls/audits to prevent transactions which are misaligned or exhibit gaps with policy. Analyze short-term and long-term resource needs and adjust resources appropriately. Ensure completion of deliverables and adherence to timelines, track milestones and timelines across projects, and institute necessary work flow, staffing, and financial resource allocations. Develop systems and processes necessary for the tracking, planning, and execution of academic service projects. Attend client meetings for ongoing and prospective projects. Arrange, manage, and maintain relevant relationships. Partner with HR COEs and other UVA resources focusing on process reform/redesign. Create a flexible infrastructure to support new initiatives. Competencies and Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be an accomplished professional who has led high functioning teams towards excellence. Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree with at least seven years of progressive experience in academic administration. Experience working in higher education. Preferred qualifications: Prior experience in quality and process improvement (e.g. LEAN, design thinking, etc.) 8 years of progressive experience in academic administration. Project management experience. The salary for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will pass a background check.
