Job Description:
The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia
School of Medicine is seeking a motivated individual as a Medical
Scribe.
The Department of Ophthalmology
(https://med.virginia.edu/ophthalmology/) is to reduce
vision-threatening eye diseases through clinical care, research,
teaching, and community service. The goal is to provide the most
effective and advanced management of ocular diseases and complex
vision problems for the local, state, regional, national, and
international communities.
The Medical Scribe will provide clinical assistance to faculty by
performing on-site medical transcription. They may also support
research efforts by entering data into project and medical record
databases and assisting with documentation. The incumbent will
accompany providers in patient clinic encounters to record accurate
medical information including notes of communication, past medical
records, laboratory results, etc.
The successful candidate will be expected to :
Ensures patient charts are accurate and thoroughly documented
according to University and Medical Center policies.
Collect and enter data into medical records and study
databases.
Assist faculty and researchers with reports, researching records,
and disposition of information.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be
assigned.
Minimum R equirements :
High school diploma or equivalent.
No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Real-time scribe, medical or other type of chart or record creating
experience preferred.
Experience with medical terminology or transcription is
preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) is
required.
This position requires in-person attendance at two Charlottesville
locations. The successful applicant will need to have reliable
transportation to both locations throughout the week and
occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings,
and programs. There are occasionally opportunities to work remotely
for 4-8 hours per week.
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of
desktop computers.
Salary Range:
$15.00 - $19.00 depending on experience.
This position will remain open until filled. This position is a
restricted position and is dependent upon project need,
availability of funding and performance.
This is a Non-Exempt/hourly level, benefited position. For more
