Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for the Operating Room Department in Charlottesville, VA! This is a Full Time, Day shift position.

Up to $15,000 sign on bonus for qualified candidates!

Sentara Martha Jefferson Main OR:

Performing an average of 7,000 cases each year, the Operating Room at SMJH has 8 OR suites and offers a variety of service lines including Complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedic surgery. It is also the 2nd highest-performing OR in the Sentara system for Orthopedic total joint procedures.

RN Unit Coordinator is responsible for providing guidance, clinical expertise, and mentoring to members of the health care team within the specialty while optimizing available resources to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

This role requires proficiency in nursing practice within the Operating Room. Responsibilities include promoting the organization's mission and values, coordinating service line purchases, providing education, participating in staffing interviews, and ensuring operational readiness of specialty rooms. The position involves collaborating with surgeons, managing equipment, and leading safety and quality initiatives, while focusing on staff development and cost reduction. Candidates must have at least two years of experience in the operating room as a scrub or circulator.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
  • 18 months of Nursing Experience Required
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Registered nurse licensure in state of employment
  • Basic life support (BLS) certificationwithin 90 days of hire
  • Must have 2 years of experience in the OR setting as a scrub or circulator


    Preferred:
    • Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification
    • Advanced computer skills (eg, Microsoft - PowerPoint, Excel)

          Job Summary

          Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. Increase staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.

          18 months nursing experience required. BSN required; Master degree preferred, if the graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required. Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty.
          Behavioral Health - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire.
          Emergency Care - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 90 days of hire.
          BLS required within 90 days of hire. Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.

          N-4YR - RN-Bachelor's Level Degree (Required), N-6YR - RN-Master's Level Degree (Required), N-DN - RN-Doctorate Level Degree (Required)
