Job Description:

underinsured individuals in our community. We are a vital part of
Virginias health safety net, providing medical, mental health,
dental, and pharmacy services, and breaking down access barriers
for those in need.As our dental program expands and evolves, we are
seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team.
The candidate will deliver high-quality, comprehensive dental
hygiene and perform a diverse range of duties.At the
Charlottesville Free Clinic, the role of a Dental Hygienist goes
beyond providing exceptional dental care. You will work hand in
hand with our dental and medical teams, contributing to a
comprehensive healthcare environment where each team member plays a
vital role in our mission.Joining our multidisciplinary healthcare

contribution directly impacts the lives of our patients, providing
them with access to critical healthcare services they might not
receive otherwise.Responsibilities:- Perform comprehensive dental
cleanings, including scaling and root planing, polishing,
radiographs, and fluoride treatment in our state of the art dental
office equipped with modern technologies- Conduct initial
debridement and supragingival calculus removal to diagnose
periodontal disease and create treatment plans.- Administer local
anesthetics for patients with moderate to severe periodontal
disease.- Place dental sealants and utilize SDF or glutaraldehyde
for dental hypersensitivity.- Educate patients on oral hygiene
techniques and the importance of regular dental visits.- Assist
dentists in patient examinations, head and neck exams, and oral
cancer screenings.- Screen and create initial treatment plan for
new patients.- Participate in training and supervision of dental
interns.- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control
regulations.- Collaborate with medical clinic staff to integrate
dental care with overall patient care.- Stay current on industry
practices, procedures, and materials.- Oversee stocking and
maintenance of the hygiene operatory, equipment, and supplies.-
Maintain patient records, update medical and dental histories, and
enter treatment plans.- Help coordinate hygiene schedule, and
participate in remotely supervised clinics.- Assist in organizing
on-site volunteer opportunities, and promote community engagement.-
Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures for
efficient clinic operations.- Participate in and represent the
clinic at CE events such as the Oral Health SummitRequirements:-
Licensed Registered Dental Hygienist graduated from an accredited
program.- Two years of dental hygiene experience (Preferred).-
Strong knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.-
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.- Ability to work
collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.- Commitment to
providing compassionate care to underserved populations.Job Types:
