Registered Nurse (RN) | Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care Location: Roanoke, VA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,197 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 4/6/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience from a large facility. License: Active RN license required. Certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS Must-Have: Comfortable working in all ICU, PCU, and medical-surgical units. Experience with patient ratios of at least 1:5. Experience with charting in EPIC. Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse for a resource nursing role. The nurse will float between ICU, PCU, and medical-surgical units as needed. Staffing needs are evaluated every four hours, with potential floating 2-3 times per shift. Weekend shifts may be scheduled every other week or as part of a six-week rotation. The nurse is required to work one holiday per 13-week contract. Experience in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and arterial line management is necessary. The nurse should be proficient in cardiac monitoring and managing ventilated patients. Management of continuous IV sedation and emergency medications is required. The average patient-to-nurse ratio in ICU is 2:1, while in PCU it is 5:1 and in medical-surgical units it may flex up to 7:1. This role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy and respiratory services. The nurse may work without CNA support, and previous charge experience is preferred.
