The Department of Medicine's Division of General, Geriatric, Palliative, and Hospital Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks candidates interested in Assistant Professorships within a well-established outpatient Primary Care practice located in Orange, VA. These tenure-ineligible faculty positions join an existing group of General Internal Medicine practitioners focused on providing medical care within a rural community. Responsibilities will include diagnosis and management of common medical conditions as well as health maintenance and disease prevention; supervision and teaching of medical residents during their primary care blocks or ambulatory medical rotations; and teaching of medical students during their clinical medical rotations. The selected candidates would also be expected to quickly develop a mature practice from the expanding population in our service area (Culpeper, Fredericksburg, and Gordonsville). Located conveniently within 85 miles of Washington, DC and 25 miles from the University of Virginia's main campus in Charlottesville, Orange County is steeped in rich history. It is the home of many Civil War battlefields, trails, and historic homes including James Madison's Montpelier, and offers spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. More senior scholars often take leadership roles in scholarly associations and act as editors, board members and referees for grant-giving organizations, academic presses and scholarly journals.* Service- - University service involves membership in departmental, college-level and university committees, attending departmental meetings, student recruitment and processing routine paperwork such as filling out reports, answering email, participating in surveys and voting in university elections.* In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
