The School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for a Academic Program Officer to support its Instructional Technology program in the Dept of Curriculum, Instruction & Special Education(CISE). This position will be a one-year full-time staff salaried position. The main responsibilities will be to support CISEs instructional technology program with academic offerings, admission, enrollment and recruitment. Their work is independent, and they may supervise staff.The Academic Program Officer is responsible for the management of academic offerings, admissions, enrollment and recruitment. They usually have previous experience in education, outreach, or subject matter expertise. Academic Program Officers must have a high-level understanding of course content, usually signified by a degree in the specialty area. Due to the nature of the position, Academic Program Officers have authority to execute independently and typically work as part of a team. They function under the general supervision of a program leader, area director, or another professional who maintains ultimate responsibility for the success of the educational or outreach initiatives.Programmatic Work:

  • Primary responsibility for implementation of academic offerings, admissions, enrollments, impact & student advising
  • Attend CISE leadership meetings and Curriculum and Instruction program meetings
  • Collaborate with relevant faculty & CISE dept admin staff on schedules, adjunct hiring, staffing of credit and non-credit courses
  • Develop strategies for recruitment of Instructional Technology students
  • Oversee Instructional Technology admission processes
  • Manage marketing of academic programs
  • Assign and monitor advising quality
  • Monitor teaching quality of credit course offerings to ensure courses remain up-to- date and reflective of current research
  • Manage academic orientations and information sessions
  • Promote the shared vision and message of the Instructional Technology program
  • Support accreditation work in concert with the Teacher Education OfficeQualifications:
    • Masters Degree in Education or Teaching and at least 4 years of relevant academic instructional technology experience.
    • A Bachelors Degree and 7 years of experience may relevant academic instructional technology experience may be considered in lieu of an advance degree.Anticipated Hiring Range: $65,000 - $70,000TO APPLY:Complete an application online and attach:
