Description Bridgewater College Campus Police and Safety Office
is accepting applications for a full-time police officer. Must be
flexible and willing to work rotating shifts and weekends. JOB
SUMMARY: Patrols Bridgewater College campus and properties to
investigate disturbances, protect life & property; & report safety
hazards. Operates communication & police equipment. Enforces laws,
including College policies and parking regulations, within
jurisdictional boundaries. Control crowds, traffic, parking &
pedestrians during special functions, escorts visitors &
dignitaries; respond to emergencies. Prepares reports; conducts
initial investigations & secures evidence; serves legal papers;
testifies in court and at hearings. Excellent interpersonal skills
in communicating with students, faculty, staff, and the general
public. QUALIFICATIONS: Certification as a police officer in
Virginia is required. Previous campus police experience preferred
but not necessary. Valid Virginia driver's license required with an
excellent driving record. Ability to apply & interpret laws &
regulations & to perform investigations required Understanding of
and appreciation for the role of law enforcement on a college
campus required Must demonstrate a heart of compassion for the
community and a passion to serve the students and the Bridgewater
College community. Pay is competitive, and salary is commensurate
with experience. This position’s salary will not affect pay
received through the Virginia Retirement Service (VRS). GENERAL

coeducational liberal arts college to serve the local community.
Located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley, just minutes outside of
Harrisonburg and within driving distance of Charlottesville,
Washington D.C., and Richmond, Bridgewater is home to a total
student body of approximately 1,450 from 27 states and 19
countries. Bridgewater students study more than 60 majors and
minors, in addition to four graduate programs and 10
pre-professional programs. Bridgewater College is an NCAA DIII
school with approximately 40 percent of its students participating
