Job Description Summary:

The Manager, Global Benefits provides operational leadership and functional subject matter expertise in support of the design and delivery of the CFA Institute's Total Rewards strategy. This position will manage the organization's full suite of global benefits offerings, including its health and welfare plans, retirement plans, leave programs, well-being programs and other ancillary benefits.

As a member of the Total Rewards team, this position participates in other work within the team's responsibility, including special projects and employment-related programs. This position is responsible for and will be held accountable for the appropriate handling of highly confidential matters and materials.

The position will be located in Charlottesville, VA, New York, NY or Washington, DC and will report to the Director, Total Rewards.

Job Description:

As the Manager, Global Benefits, you will have the opportunity to:

Be responsible for managing the organization's employee benefits programs and related procedures to ensure successful adoption and compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Continually evaluate existing benefits programs and processes; make recommendations for enhancements or improvements in support of strategic initiatives or as triggered by changes to available environments, regulation, technology or business needs.
  • Manage the annual benefits renewal and open enrollment processes globally, including plan and vendor evaluation, cost and utilization analyses, and data audit and reconciliation.
  • Ensure benefits programs and processes are documented and compliant with People & Culture (P&C) strategies, policies and governmental regulations.
  • Ensure benefits-related documentation, supporting materials and communications are thoroughly reviewed for accuracy, updated in a timely manner and compliant with respective plan or governmental regulations.
  • Coordinate benefits-related data requests and provision to ensure the timely and accurate submission of data for compliance, audit, reporting and other plan administration purposes.
  • Develop, implement and maintain global well-being programs taking a holistic approach to include physical, behavioral, financial and social wellness.

Serve as the point of contact and subject matter expert for employee benefit inquiries, projects, and activities. Additionally, serve as one of the company's representatives to the organization's benefits consultant(s), broker(s), carriers, vendors, and legal counsel.
  • Respond to employee questions and requests as they relate to the organization's benefit programs and processes. Interpret and explain complex policy and coverage information, plan documents and other benefits-related topics and materials in easy to understand terms appropriate to his/her/their audience
  • Identify benefit education and communication needs and opportunities. Partner cross-functionally within and beyond the P&C Team and, when appropriate, leverage a trusted network of managers and employees to develop and deliver upon robust communication plans.
  • Effectively manage and leverage vendor and third-party administrator relationships.

The skills and experience necessary for this role are:
  • Minimum 3 years' direct experience in global employee benefits administration with extensive knowledge of best practices and a demonstrable interest in international issues
  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation or equivalent preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply applicable laws and regulations relating to employee benefits
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile, analyze, interpret and present employee information and data accurately and with attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including a professional and diplomatic demeanor. Must demonstrate outstanding judgment and mature business skills with ability to establish strong rapport at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and presentation. Demonstrable ability to interact with employees across the organization at all levels.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential matters and materials with discretion and a high degree of professionalism
  • Flexibility in competently juggling competing priorities and changing expectations
