Job Description:

The University of Virginia Arts & Sciences Department of Media Studies seeks a Department Finance and Administration Manager. This position will manage all administrative operations for Media Studies. They will work closely with the chair, director of undergraduate studies and director of graduate studies. The incumbent will manage the Curriculum Budget Plans (CBP) and manage the annual budgets. Other key administrative responsibilities include partnering and collaborating with Human Resources on student, faculty and staff hiring; onboarding of new hires; salary and pay related changes; support of information dissemination; building departmental engagement; and supporting departmental needs. The Department Manager also will maintain undergraduate and graduate student records and will manage department academic and scheduling needs in the Student Information System (SIS) and University Business Intelligence (UBI) interfaces. The Department Manager may play a vital role with supervising/mentoring team members directly. Additional responsibilities include monthly reconciliations, transfers, monitoring expenditures and providing financial reports as requested by the chair. Other duties may be assigned, as needed.

A bachelors degree is required, as is at least two years of increasing management and administrative responsibility supporting financial and academic operations and human resources. Relevant exempt level experience may substitute for a degree. Strong understanding and skills in Microsoft Excel and data analytics are required. The incumbent must have problem solving skills as well as the ability to exercise independent judgment. The incumbent must have the ability to clearly articulate specific information in areas of subject matter expertise to a diverse set of stakeholders. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required

Anticipated Hiring Range: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
