St. Anne's-Belfield School seeks a full-time Human Resources Generalist. This role is responsible for a wide spectrum of human resources tasks including facilitating timekeeping and payroll, administering benefits, employee relations, employee engagement, recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, and other tasks as assigned.


  • Position Summary

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for the accurate and timely administration of the benefit and leave programs, onboarding process in accordance with criteria for hire requirements, offboarding, employee training programs, and the daily administration of HR at St. Anne's-Belfield School. The Generalist serves as a liaison between departments, external agencies, and the Director of Human Resources, assisting with HR policy guidance and interpretation, and directing employees to the HR Director on legal and regulatory matters when appropriate. The HR Generalist maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and follows recommended HR best practices in all duties and responsibilities.


  • Essential Functions

  • Assists the HR Director in administering all benefit programs, including medical, dental, voluntary and supplemental policies, retirement, FSA and HSA, COBRA administration, wellness programs including EAP, and disability insurance
  • Assists employees in answering benefit questions and solving day-to-day benefit claim problems, including serving as the liaison between insurance carriers and employees with benefits issues
  • Audits and reconciles benefit invoices for accuracy and provides the necessary documentation for payment to the Business Office
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
  • Maintains and tracks all paid and unpaid leave programs, including FMLA. Maintains and ensures accurate record-keeping, ensures that leave processes are executed fully, and answers employee inquiries regarding leave
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents employee compliance with mandatory training in the Safe Schools program
  • Assists the HR Director with the recruitment process through the School's Human Resources Information System (HRIS), iHire
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the HR Director
  • Performs all required Criteria for Hire elements on new hires, including criminal background checks, drug testing, fingerprinting, and employee eligibility verifications
  • Completes new hire onboarding and offboarding through iHire, Dominion Payroll Systems (DPS), and the School's Student/Employee Information System (SIS).
  • Creates and generates HR-related reports through iHire as needed and requested
  • Processes verifications of employment promptly
  • Maintains personnel files and records following mandated regulations
  • Ensures all labor law postings are compliant and up-to-date according to federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent development, and employment law
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related fields required. Human Resource certification is preferred but not required.
  • Three years of human resource management experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in benefits administration, payroll processing, leave administration, onboarding, and offboarding employees
