Job Description:

The Department of Neuroscience seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Specialist to perform and assist with laboratory management and experimental procedures in the laboratory of Dr. Alban Gaultier. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting animal husbandry, assisting in animal behavior experiments, tissue culture, ordering lab supplies and maintaining lab equipment.

Qualified candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Neuroscience or a related field and at least three years of experience working in a laboratory setting, which may include experience gained while a student. Six years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree. The successful candidate should also possess excellent written and oral communication skills and be motivated to learn new laboratory techniques and skills. Qualified candidates will also possess strong problem-solving skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in animal husbandry, flow cytometry, and/or confocal microscopy.

This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
