Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or in a closely related field at the time of appointment. Applicants must present evidence of outstanding contributions to the mathematical theory of the 3D Navier-Stokes (NS) equations. An expertise in mathematical analysis of the spatial analyticity properties of solutions to the 3D NS equations in the space of bounded functions as well as in the space of the functions of bounded mean oscillations is highly desirable. An expertise in the mathematical framework for the study of possible singularity formation in the 3D NS model based on the spatial intermittency of the regions of the intense fluid activity will also be helpful.
