Company: University of Virginia
Location: Charlottesville
Posted on: June 6, 2021

Job Description:

The Department of Neuroscience at the University of Virginia seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on the contribution of ER stress in immune responses in the context of sepsis, viral infection and neuroinflammation. The incumbent will conduct research in the laboratory of Dr. Alban Gaultier, within the Center for Brain Immunology and Glia.

The Center for Brain Immunology and Glia is highly collaborative with state of the art shared equipment (https://med.virginia.edu/big/). Research topics studied include brain infections and injury, multiple sclerosis, and autism.

Postdoctoral employment is temporary and is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate within the previous five years and who will be involved in full-time research or scholarship at the University. Employment as a Postdoctoral Research Associate is viewed as training and is preparatory for a full-time academic or research career, is supervised by a senior scholar, and allows the appointee to publish the results of research or scholarship during the training period.

The University of Virginia is located in picturesque and historical Charlottesville, with outstanding schools, affordable housing, and is less than two hours from Washington, DC, and only an hour away from Richmond, VA.

This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
