The Department of Neuroscience, at the University of Virginia
School of Medicine, is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to
work in the lab of Dr. Tajie Harris. The successful candidate will
perform research in the field of innate immunity to CNS infection.
The laboratory aims to elucidate the mechanisms by which the innate
immune response is activated by infection. The laboratory utilizes
multiphoton microscopy, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry,
immunohistochemistry, and other techniques to understand how immune
cells function in immune-privileged tissues. The successful
candidate will join the center for Brain Immunology and Glia (BIG)
at the University of Virginia, a dynamic research environment with
state-of-the-art microscopy and flow cytometry facilities.
Qualified candidates must have an MD or a PhD in Immunology,
Microbiology, Neuroscience, or a related field in hand by the start
date and must have at least one publication in a peer-reviewed
journal. Extensive experience with flow cytometry (8 color or
more), confocal microscopy, and a basic knowledge of cellular
immunology techniques is preferred but not required. The ability to
