Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, and maintenance of UVa's buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.We are seeking a Mason Plasterer to provide support to maintenance workers in the Health System complex. The Mason Plasterer provides labor and technical knowledge for installation and maintaining the components of the building structural integrity as well as a safe environment. The Mason Plasterer responds to requests and completes jobs for maintenance, accomplishing such work as plastering, masonry, installing and finishing sheetrock, and ceramic tile.Duties include:+ Construct, repair, or demolish concrete bases, walls, floors, chimneys, and sidewalks, by using electric rotary hammers, air hammers, masonry saws, and other hand and power tools of the trade.+ Prepare and mix materials according to specifications.+ Apply first coat or finish coat of plaster using plastering devices such as trawls. Patch plaster breaks and cracks.+ Prepare estimates and requisitions materials.+ Perform all work in accordance with safety rules and procedures, such as OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations, National Electrical Code, and The Joint Commission.+ In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.The University of Virginia requires compliance with the Health System policy OCH-002 for this position and **the new employee will need to provide proof of a COVID vaccination** .
