* You will be working closely with other personnel at the National
Ground Intelligence Center providing operational support and
database administration of biometric databases. The team shares a
military mindset with a devotion to both professional behavior and
dedication to mission success.

* This is an opportunity to support the Army's biometric collection
mission to collect, match and compare fingerprints, iris images,
and facial photos to establish identity superiority and maintain
identity dominance in all areas of military operations. As a key
member of the biometric team, you will work closely with the
warfighter to ensure 100% availability of all biometric data. The
successful candidate will provide critical database administration,
database management, database optimization, scripting,
troubleshooting, patching, and updating.
* Strong technical skills balanced by an operational mindset
focused on the success of the biometric mission.
Tasks:
* Must provide detailed technical support for database development
efforts and generation of reports with minimal management
supervision.
* Must be capable of translating operational requirements into
detailed database queries to provide applicable metrics and
reports.
* Must have knowledge of distributed systems, and issues regarding
database replication and distribution for distributed systems.
* Must have a general understanding of communications protocols,
and be able to quickly understand the Common Operating Environment
and Army Technical Architecture guidelines.
* Day-to-Day tasks:
* Maintenance and administration of Microsoft SQL Server
databases
* Take the provided Biometric Enabled Watch List (BEWL) and format
a more detailed BEWL product for key stakeholders
* Performs all aspects of database administration including testing
of all modifications, security administration, optimization,
capacity planning, performance tuning
* Support NGIC ad hoc Database queries and request
* Development, enhancements, and support of database
applications
* Development and administration of stored procedures, triggers,
views, and functions
* Data extraction and import
* Assist in data reporting
* Designing, testing, implementing, maintaining, and controlling
the relational and object-oriented databases across multiple
platforms and computing environments
* Automating manual processes
* Implement process improvements
* Develop ad-hoc reports and other applications using Microsoft SQL
Server, .NET, and other programming tools
* Troubleshoot data issues
* Validate result sets
* Analyze data
* System quality assurance and consistency with installation,
security policy compliance, and standards
* Develop data architectures and database management policies and
standards as required
* Identification and resolution of data issues
Required Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information
Systems, Engineering, Business, or related technical discipline (8
years of direct relevant technical experience may be substituted
for education).
* 5+ years in database administration experience utilizing but not
limited to Oracle, MySQL, and SQLite databases
* Within 6 months of hiring, achieve DoD 8570 at the IAT level II
Certification as specified at

* Proven ability to troubleshoot, networking, SQL Server and
Windows operating systems
* Proven ability to create scripts for system administration/setup,
perform database maintenance, and ensure data integrity
* The candidate must be fully proficient in the use of PCs and all
programs included in the Microsoft Office application suite.
Desired Qualification:
* Prior experience supporting the data management of biometric
systems
* Previous experience with Army or SOCOM biometrics
applications
* Experience supporting the BEAMS (Biometrics Enterprise Asset
Management System) asset management tool
* Existing DoD 8570 at the IAT Level II Certification
* Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) in one or more SQL
concentrations
* Military and/or national intelligence background with a clear
understanding of the military structure, mission, and
responsibilities
* Prior experience in Afghanistan, Iraq, or similar surroundings is
a plus
Physical Job Requirements:
* Physical demands vary from sitting at a desk to hand-carrying a
computer or server. Phone use and PC or laptop.
* May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to
50 lbs.
Position Type/Shift Information:
* Work approximately 8 hours per day, five days a week
US Citizenship & Clearance: Current DoD Top Secret clearance with
SCI. US Citizenship is required.
