searching for individuals driven by safety to support state traffic
operations. VDOT---s Richmond District is looking for a Contract
Monitor to provide support related to contracts to the District
Traffic Operations to ensure contracts are developed or monitored
effectively and in compliance with VDOT policies, procedures,
regulations and guidelines. This Contract Monitor Traffic will
oversee the inspection, monitoring and compliance of Traffic signal
and other traffic device maintenance contracts, modifications, and
new construction projects. This position will also interpret
contract special provisions, provide technical guidance to
contractors and file personnel, resolve routine contract issues,
monitor contract expenditures, and provide input in the development
of maintenance contracts. "In order to be considered for this

Qualifications --- Ability to maintain detailed records, perform
mathematical measurements and calculations --- Knowledge of work
zone safety requirements --- Valid driver---s license --- Skill in
use of computers to maintain records, prepare reports,
correspondence and use relevant applications for maintenance,
modification, and construction of traffic and pedestrian signals,
and other traffic control devices --- Ability to read, interpret
contract plans, relevant standards, policies and legal
requirements. --- Experience in an operations maintenance
environment and experience working with contracts for traffic
control devices. --- Ability to oversee staff, programs and
budgets. --- Knowledge of materials and components of traffic and
pedestrian signals. --- Ability to communicate verbally and in
writing with customers. --- Considerable knowledge of traffic
signal operation, maintenance, construction, contract components,
and field inspection specifications and procedures. Additional
Considerations --- A combination of training, experience, or
education in Engineering technology or related field desired. ---
Experience with Intelligent traffic systems (ITS) --- IMSA Level I
