Description:Better Living Building Supply, Central Virginia's premier lumber yard, in business since 1893, is seeking to hire motivated individuals to fulfill delivery orders of building materials in a timely and efficient matter. Additional responsibilities may include assisting customers with obtaining materials on ticket, assistance with maintaining stock in the warehouse, maintaining good housekeeping, and load and unload material in the warehouse. Must demonstrate attention to detail and positive contribution toward team environment.

  FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare lumber and other building materials for delivery or pickup.
• Ensures the customer has the proper copies of customer sales invoices before customer obtains any material.
• Loads and unloads material in the warehouse.
• Maintains proper storage and housekeeping in the warehouse.
• Receives returned merchandise per company procedures (See attached).
• Performs other duties assigned by Yard Foreman or Dispatcher.
• Other duties assigned by management.
• Monday - Friday 7am-4:30pmRequirements:EXPERIENCE:
  • 3 months experience preferred but not required.
  • Advanced Forklift experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
    • Communicate with customers, other employees, and supervisors using verbal, written, or other skills.
    • Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
    • In-depth knowledge of materials and products related to building and construction
    • Ability to operate forkliftPHYSICAL DEMANDS:
      • Lift 100 pounds up to a height of 6 feet.
      • Carry 100 pounds over a distance exceeding 12 feet.
      • Push 100 pounds in a wheeled cart.
      • Bend, stoop, or squat to floor level on a repetitive basis.
      • Reach over head to grasp materials.ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
        • Work outside in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold.
        • Work with mechanical equipment on daily basis.
        • Stand for long periods of time (up to 4 hours).LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE:
