Let Volt Help You Move Forward Volt is immediately hiring for a Lab Technician III for Covington, VA location. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing testing of pulp and paperboard to ensure the mill meets quality specifications. • Collecting samples in an industrial setting, such as the following: o Stock & Additives (stock samples) o Finished product (Paper/paperboard) • Perform analyses using instruments in the onsite laboratory. Analysis includes bacterial testing, and other internal process analyses. • Entering analytical results in a database or spreadsheet for reporting; perform data analysis • Maintain proper housekeeping in the laboratory • Ensuring that laboratory instruments have proper preventative maintenance and care. • Checking that laboratory chemical inventory is adequate. • Adherence to all mill safety rules, participates in safety programs and meetings with the goal of improving safety at the mill This is a Full-Time opportunity. Shift Hours: 8am to 12pm. 5 days per week with at least one day either on Sat or Sunday. The ideal candidate will have: • Proficient computer skills (including MS Office, most importantly Excel and Microsoft Word). • Willing and able to walk and work in an industrial location indoors or outdoors, including walking up and down steps with all safety equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, steel-toed shoes, etc.) • Highly organized/attentive to detail • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with subordinates, peers, managers and contractors • Excellent communication skills – must be able to communicate quickly any unusual result or inspection finding • Works with minimal supervision, detail and results oriented • Safety mindset Pay Rate: $28.35/Hourly *Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc. Qualified candidates should APPLY NOW for immediate consideration!
