Title: Intelligence Analyst Senior DSP00878, DSP00880 State Role Title: Policy Planning Spec II Hiring Range: Negotiable and Commensurate with Experience Pay Band: 5 Agency: Department of State Police Location: Culpeper, Virginia Agency Website: vsp.virginia.gov Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties About the Position: The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Intelligence Analyst Senior in our Homeland Security Division in Culpeper, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to: • Supporting the (VSP) Bureau of Field Operations (BFO) activity in Division Il by conducting in-depth analysis of information and research in support of active criminal investigations or other enforcement activities. • Engaging and facilitating in the exchange of criminal and terrorist related information and intelligence between the Virginia Fusion Center (VFC) and all law enforcement or homeland security agencies in the VSP Division Il region. • Analyzing multi-faceted criminate data to show methods, trends, and patterns relating to the Division Il region. • Compiling reports and undertaking projects relating to these topics as needed. • Conducting database checks and compiling results to respond to requests for information in a timely, efficient manner. • Compiling reports and projects relating to criminal activity and providing assistance for special projects in the VFC as needed. • Analyzing cellular data related to criminal investigations as requested or required. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge: • Of research and analysis techniques. Skills: • In using personal computers and Microsoft Office applications. Ability: • To effectively collect, analyze, summarize, interpret and communicate information and technical data orally and in writing. • To apply critical thinking to diverse information sets; and to produce logic-based analysis and recommendations on probable and potential trends and event outcomes. • To maintain accurate and complete files. • To manage multiple priorities. • To follow oral and written instructions in English. • To establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of municipal, state, and federal personnel and representatives of other agencies and organizations. • To work semi-independently, establish priorities, and achieve high level results with limited direct supervision. • To create and provide intelligence briefings for all levels of personnel. • Experience in government, business, or criminal justice to include analytical experience and criminal analytical training. • Must have a valid driver’s license. • Ability to obtain federal security clearance. • Requires three-year commitment to the VFC and ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. • Graduation from high school or equivalent. Additional Considerations • Public safety experience or other broad scope of governmental experience preferred. • General knowledge of information technology-based analysis platforms and software to produce one or more of the following: Geographic Information System (GIS) based maps, text, tables, graphs, and charts is preferred.
